The genius of Chris Knox is apparent right from the opening song, the brilliant "It's Love," which with its three chords, great melody, and simple, universal, heartfelt lyric could have written by Buddy Holly a full 45 years earlier. But of course, it doesn't end there. On the very next track Knox spews out a dazzling line of pure anti-folk verbiage that will send the timid running for cover.
Knox's passion, bitterness, and anger is unapologetically upfront and often embarrassingly honest, but there's no denying the catchy melodies and singalong hooks his music has to offer. It's Knox's willingness to boldly say what he has to say that makes him a treasure.
