The winner of the sixth season of the NBC reality show America's Got Talent, Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. keeps things light and swinging on his 2011 debut, That's Life. A vocalist in the traditional pop style of Frank Sinatra and Harry Connick Jr., Murphy sticks to Great American Songbook standards here, including his version of "My Way," which helped secure him the top spot on America's Got Talent. Murphy also tackles such chestnuts as "Ain't That a Kick in the Head," "That's Life," "Witchcraft," "I've Got the World on a String," and others. Backed by a full big band and orchestra throughout the album, Murphy's burnished baritone voice is clearly the showcase here, and That's Life should appeal to fans who supported him on the TV show. ~ Matt Collar
