Though they weren't among the biggest names in '70s rock, Cleveland band The James Gang undeniably made their mark, with bluesy riff-rockers like "Funk #49" and "Walk Away" becoming classic-rock radio staples. Though the band continued for several years with equally distinctive guitarists after leader Joe Walsh left in the early '70s, the Walsh period is regarded as the band's real heyday, and is the focus of this collection, where hard-charging boogie rock is occasionally leavened by more low-key, reflective moments like "Tend My Garden" and "Collage."
