LOCOMOTION - Little Eva

Thanks to the crack songwriting team of Carole King and Gerry Goffin, Little Eva (Eva Boyd was actually Goffin & King's babysitter at the time) burst on the pop scene with two memorable singles in 1962, the undeniably catchy "The Locomotion" and the brilliantly realized "Keep Your Hands Off My Baby," but unfortunately that was pretty much it ("Let's Turkey Trot" did at least chart a year later) as Eva's producers reduced her to recording mindless fare like "Old Smokey Loco-Motion" to try to wring every last dollar out of the dance craze she started. This brief Collectables set has "The Locomotion" (and "Old Smokey Loco-Motion," if anyone's interested) but lacks "Keep Your Hands Off My Baby," which is arguably Little Eva's best recorded performance. ~ Steve Leggett
